Tooth Healing

Teeth are bones that can heal over time, just like any other bone in the body.  As a matter of fact, teeth are better equipped to heal themselves than any other bone in the body because they each have a circulatory and nervous system.

Brushing with fluoride toothpaste prevents teeth from self healing because it creates a coat or film over each tooth that won’t rinse away. This film on teeth can prevent the teeth from absorbing minerals needed for healing, thereby weakening the teeth in the long run.

There are many alternatives to fluoride toothpaste, which are not toxic, won't damage your teeth, gums and/or health and might actually reverse existing damage to your teeth and gums. Such alternatives include oil pulling (explained below), plain water, salt, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), dry brushing, hydrogen peroxide, MMS, self-made toothpaste, tooth powder and more.

Nothing a dentist does will ever heal your tooth. Much more likely, it will increase the damage to your tooth since the tooth is weakened by drilling and subsequent filling with potentially toxic artificial materials (see here for a list). A filling typically doesn't stop the tooth's decay, and once filled, more fillings and treatments will appear to be required in time. Dental fillings only "repair" the tooth for a certain time since there is no restorative material capable of protecting a tooth from further decay for its entire life. The daily act of chewing applies great pressure on the tooth and the filling, either of which may develop (micro)cracks under the pressure.

In sum: in great likelihood, having a tooth filled is the first step towards eventually losing the tooth. (And that this statement is indeed true to fact has been confirmed by a dentistry professor at King's College London Dental Institute.)

An extraordinary German dentist, Dr Ulrich Bruhn, did ground-breaking work in this area. His unflagging commitment to spreading the word about the use of "straight" xylitol as an effective caries and gum disease fighter nearly cost him his livelihood (all his former patients recovered).

A summary of the phenomenal effect of xylitol on gum disease and tooth decay as observed in hundreds of volunteer subjects can be found at 'Healing Teeth Naturally'. It  contains real-life stories reporting the experiences various people have had with dental xylitol application regarding receding gums, tooth sensitivity, coated tongue, chronic inflammatory gingival enlargement, plaque, tartar, bad breath and other problems.

Oil pulling is a simple but powerful DIY practice (also known from Ayurveda) reputedly drawing toxins from your oral mucosa & destroying mouth germs while stimulating bodily eliminations and increasing metabolism, thus reportedly leading to various (sometimes dramatic) healing benefits and enhanced health including whitening of teeth, fixing/fastening loose teeth, eliminating bleeding gums, stopping tooth sensitivity, decay & abscesses, and preventing cavities.

The practice of oil pulling involves placing a tablespoon of an edible oil (e.g., sesame, olive, sunflower, coconut) inside the mouth, and swishing or “pulling” the oil through the teeth and oral cavity for anywhere from 1-5 minutes to up to 20 minutes or longer.  Start with just 5 minutes a day. Twenty minutes of swishing is a long time, and while the longer you pull, the more bacteria you'll remove, 5 or 10 minutes will still offer some benefit.
